Who we are

On February 22, 2001, a group of British car enthusiasts met at the Odell Park lodge to discuss the future of an organized group of some sort. Gary Arsenault, who was instrumental in bringing us together, led the discussion which made clear there was plenty of interest in moving ahead with plans. The consensus seemed to be that this would be a fun club, the emphasis on fun with the focus on touring and occasionally getting together to discuss British cars in some non-formal environment - members' garages, Odell park, or even an occasional pub meet.

St. George Run - Report

It was another great trip planned by John. The weather ended up being great, we had sun all day! We had great attendance with a total of 7 vehicles: 2 MGs, 2 Triumphs, 1 BMW, 1 Porsche, and 1 Mazda.

We left from the Irving in Harvey, headed to Birch Grove Restaurant in Saint George where we had lunch on the patio. Then took a drive through Saint Andrew's to see Oktoberfest-by-the-Sea. Nathan had a great idea to stop for ice cream on the way home.

Proposed St. George Run - Saturday September 26

I am thinking of organizing a drive down to St. George for a seafood lunch at the Birch Grove Restaurant. We would meet at the Irving in Harvey at 10:00 a.m., departing at 10:30 a.m. Our route would take us down Route 3, then onto Route 127 and Route 760 through Elmsville before continuing on to St. George and the Birch Grove Restaurant.

The restaurant does not take weekend reservations until late October. However, the outdoor deck is still open, so weather permitting, we can sit outside and enjoy the fall air. You may want to bring a sweater or light jacket. After lunch, we would continue on the scenic route through St. Andrews and St. Stephen before returning home via Route 3. As always, this outing is weather permitting.

Please confirm participation in the comments.

Thank you, John

Elm City Show & Shine - Report

Hi everyone - this past Saturday was a nice day for the car show. Rick, John, Mike & Erin had their cars in the show.

Report on September 16th Meeting

Once again, we subjected our aging stomachs to some of the best Mexican cooking around at El Mariachi. It's a great spot with plenty of room and easy parking just outside. Being a little out of the way means there's no traffic, either.

Gary opened with a song and dance... oops, sorry, wrong meeting. Gary actually opened with a quick recap of recent outings:

- We had about 14 cars at the Stanley Fair, where we spent a fun afternoon taking in the "farm" events. The horse pull was especially entertaining. It was kind of like a tractor pull, but without the noise and smell. Thanks to Sandy and Larry for organizing the day. This has become an annual event for us and is always well attended.

- Ernst and John's rainy trip to the Island for a show in Summerside was highlighted. Neither of them was there to fill us in, but the report is on the website.

- Our new webmaster and webmistress (can I say that?) Mike and Erin were complimented on the new website. Everyone is encouraged to send in car-related content.

Upcoming events...

- With fall descending on us, we're a little short on trips and outings. I'll schedule our Oktoberfest run to Adolf's for the end of October, but there's still a whole month to fill.

- It was suggested that someone (anyone!) look into the famous "train pies" at the station in McAdam. This would make a great Sunday drive.

- There's a car show at the NBEX this Saturday, and members are encouraged to attend. Details can be found here: Elm City Fall Class Show & Shine

 - Our next meeting will be at the ever-popular Dimitri's Greek Restaurant, just off the Tannery (and why is it called that?) between King and Queen Streets. Rob E.

Elm City Show & Shine

The annual Elm City Fall Classic - Show & Shine will be Saturday September 19th from 10am - 2pm

We have had good club turnout in past years, hoping a few can make it this year too.

PEI Fall Drive - Update

Here are a few photographs from our PEI trip. There aren't many, as everyone already knows what rain looks like!

Despite the weather, we had a good time. We did run into a problem on the way when my driver's-side wiper decided it didn't want to work anymore. Ernst and I pulled over in Petitcodiac, and Ernst swapped the wipers around. The repair took about an hour, and we were very lucky that the rain stopped while he was working on them.

The fix lasted until we arrived in PEI. Unfortunately, it was raining quite heavily, and then the passenger-side wiper decided it didn't want to work either. I removed it and continued on to Summerside.

Even though it rained for much of the trip, we had a great time driving around the island. It also turned out to be an excellent test for my Spitfire soft top. After stretching it last year, it no longer leaks.

All in all, it was a great trip and a successful test for my soft top.

Cheers,

 John
